Easy banana bread recipe

1/2 c shortening (1 stick butter)
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c buttermilk or milk
1 c mashed ripe bananas
2 c flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 c nuts or chocolate chips

2 loaf pans, sprayed with non-stick spray

Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Pour batter into pans. Bake for 1 hour or until golden-brown.

if a person didn't have loaf pans, do you think another shape of pan could work? or is the pan shape critical?

Other pans will work; I used a round casserole pan for my 2nd loaf since I only have one loaf pan. You may have to cook it a little longer to make sure the center is cooked, if you use a round pan.
